The pattern is worked in the round and you will use cotton yarn, which absorbs heat well and washes well.
What you will need is:
Approximately 130 yards of 100% cotton yarn
I recommend: Red Heart Scrubby Smoothie Cotton Yarn in red, white, and blue
This pattern results in a dual layer hot pad
Pattern works up using a single crochet stitch
Is crocheted in the round with no join at the end of each round
And, you will use the mattress stitch for closing the seam
Finished Size: 6" x 6" square
You can, of course, alter this pattern to make a larger or smaller hot pad.
